About The Position

The trained Surgical technologist, under the direct supervision of the Registered Professional Nurse and/or physician, is assigned as an assistant to specific service areas in the Surgical Suite. Overview The Labor and Delivery unit has 6 labor rooms, 1 treatment room, and 2 high risk maternal advanced care beds. There are also 2 designated operating rooms and 2 PACU bays. The unit specializes in labor and delivery of uncomplicated and high-risk pregnancies. The Obstetrical Triage unit consists of 7 triage bays as well as 2 non-stress test chairs. Any patient 16 weeks pregnant or greater to 6 weeks post-partum is seen in OB Triage. Patients are seen for various complaints as well as for iron/blood infusions, and Rhogam injections.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a nationally or regionally accredited educational program for Surgical Technologists
  • Certified Surgical Technologist Credential administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or its successor, or other nationally recognized credentialing organization (e.g. NCCT – National Center for Competency Testing, etc.).
  • Must annually complete 15 hours of continuing education to remain qualified to practice as a Surgical Technologist in NJ.
  • PRN nights hours: 7p-7:30a minimum of 9 shifts per 6-week schedule
  • 3 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule
  • 1 winter/1 summer holiday
  • -Looking for an individual who is able to work days or nights, if needed-

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of Surgical Technologist experience is preferred.
