The Surgical Technologist II is to function as a team member during the preoperative, intra-operative and postoperative phases of the surgical procedure. Requirements

• Two (2) years recent hospital experience in the capacity of a Surgical Technologist
• Current CPR recognition
• Current certification as a Surgical Tech (the 2 acceptable certifications are: (1) CST from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) and (2)Tech in Surgery TS-C from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
• Demonstrates advanced knowledge and proficient practice in the first scrub role in majority of surgical procedures and advanced skills appropriate to the role of the Surgical Technician.
• Demonstrates higher level critical thinking and problem solving skills.
• Must demonstrate technical competence, professional judgment and sensitivity for the patient and family in crisis.
• Must be able to interact professionally and effectively communicate with physicians, staff, patients, and the public.
• Must have the ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently.
• Must have the ability to work in a demanding environment while remaining calm, efficient and focused.
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Must have the ability and willingness to actively participate in continuing education programs, unit based QI task forces and committees and actively participates in preceptor programs.
• Must have the ability to perform at the preceptor role in the training of students.
• Must have the ability to act as a department resource as a positive role model.
• Must be able to perform proficiently at intermediate and advanced levels and meet competency requirements.
