Brookings Health System is seeking a Surgical Technician to join our team to deliver the best possible care! Compensation range for this position is $21.96 to $32.51, depending on experience. Incumbent will assist during surgical operations and with procedures done under a physician’s direction. Works as part of a surgical team to ensure that the operative procedure is conducted under optimal conditions. Provides a safe environment for patients undergoing a surgical or diagnostic procedure. Incumbent will work closely with physicians, medical nursing staff, and ancillary departments within the hospital to promote optimal patient outcomes. The Scrub Personnel must possess effective communication skills, exhibit increased knowledge of disease processes, and display advanced critical thinking ability. Expectations include always providing excellent customer service and maintaining flexibility to meet a constantly changing work environment. Requirements

  • Knowledge of medical terminology required.
  • Knowledge and previous experience with anatomy, physiology, microbiology, surgical pharmacology, and principles of asepsis/sterile techniques required.
  • Familiarity with resuscitation protocols and an understanding of the tech’s role on a Code Blue required.
  • Incumbent must possess an increased knowledge of anatomy.
  • Current certification in CPR/BLS required.

Nice To Haves

  • This position prefers, but does not require, a surgical technician certification.
