About The Position

The Surgical Technician-Certified at WRMC OR plays a critical role in supporting surgical teams by preparing operating rooms and ensuring all necessary instruments and equipment are sterile and ready for use. This position is essential for maintaining a safe and efficient surgical environment, directly impacting patient outcomes and surgical success. The technician collaborates closely with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists to anticipate the needs of each procedure and respond promptly to any intraoperative requirements. Attention to detail and adherence to strict aseptic techniques are paramount to prevent infections and complications. Ultimately, this role contributes to the seamless execution of surgical procedures, enhancing overall patient care quality within the surgery department located at 2525 Surgery unit.

Requirements

  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) from an accredited program.
  • Completion of an accredited surgical technology training program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sterile techniques and surgical instrumentation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure surgical environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a hospital operating room setting.
  • Advanced certifications such as Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA).
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems used in surgical departments.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills developed through prior clinical experience.
  • Additional training in specialized surgical procedures or equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare operating rooms by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies according to the specific needs of each procedure.
  • Assist surgical staff during operations by passing instruments and supplies, anticipating surgeon needs, and maintaining a sterile field.
  • Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and maintained in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor and manage surgical supplies inventory to ensure availability and timely replenishment.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to maintain a safe, clean, and organized operating environment before, during, and after procedures.
