As an OR Tech Certified you are responsible for the following: · Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson. · Recognizes the patients, their family/designated care partner(s) in providing safe, compassionate, and coordinated care based on respect for patient's personal preferences, priorities, needs, and cultural beliefs and values. · Communicates with and supports the inter-professional team, patient, family, and designated care partners. · Inspects Operating Room (OR) for cleanliness and secures, sets up, and prepares OR equipment, instruments and supplies which are required for surgical procedures. · Participates in team time out and is an active participant and advocate for patient safety and high-quality care in the perioperative setting. · Aids with gowning and gloving of Surgical team including the Surgeon · Assist with preparation of the sterile field including draping of the patient and maintaining sterile field integrity · Gives a thorough report to relief personnel on status of procedure, instruments, materials, and any other pertinent information to insure a smooth transition of personnel during the surgical procedure. · Counts all sharps, sponges, and instruments with the circulating nurse prior to, during and after the surgical procedure. Follows the policy on how counts are performed, and initiates corrective action when count is incorrect. · Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization · Aids in maintaining supplies and equipment available to ensure efficient unit operations. · Helps maintain a safe, neat, and clean environment to facilitate safe and effective patient care in the Operating Room. · Acts as primary preceptor to other surgical team members as needed The OR Certified Tech will participate in the delivery of OR care in the operating room and/or ambulatory surgical center under supervision of a registered nurse. Responsibilities include scrubbing various specialties and securing general supplies/equipment needed for surgery.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Completion of OR Technician training
  • BLS and OR Technician certification required
  • Certification through the NCCT or NBSTSA required.
  • One (1) year of scrub experience
