About The Position

Will coordinate and carry out all surgical scheduling functions. Will also support the Director and Staff and performs general administrative tasks, as needed. Will work effectively with office schedulers to maximize the surgeon's productivity with regard to sequential scheduling of cases. Maintains current schedule of surgical cases for each provider and communicate to them in a timely fashion all last minute schedule changes and issues that could affect an upcoming case. Relays booking information to others who need to be aware of surgery booking in order to ensure that the appropriate resources are available. Obtains authorization for insurance coverage of a surgical case from the office or patient registration. Will schedule patients for pre-admission testing. Communicates in a timely fashion with other depatments relative to surgical patient care needs. Accurately registers patients. Schedules patient appointments, staff meetings and physician activities. Maintains equipment and supplies used and to assist in reordering and restocking of appropriate supplies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Two years of experience in a physician's office or similar environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Spanish/English medical/health interpretin prefered.
  • Experience working with Meditech MSM and working knowledge of ICD-9 and HCPC coding relative to surgery preferred.
