The Surgical Recovery Coordinator: provides essential support to the organ recovery and preservation process in assigned hospitals within LiveOnNY's service area. Requirements

  • MD, RN, Physicans Assistant, Nurse Practioner, Surgical Technician, EMT or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Good knowledge of human anatomy/function and basic medical terminology is necessary. Knowledge of surgical aseptic technique and demonstrated ability to work in a sterile operating room setting required.
  • Must be able to travel within our Greater New York service area (NYC and surrounding counties).

Nice To Haves

  • CTP (Certified Transplant Preservationist) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate organ recovery and preservation procedures with Transplant Coordinators, Donor Hospital OR staff, and Organ Recovery Team(s).
  • Participate in organ donor recoveries that require traveling to donor hospitals by aircraft and arrive at the donor hospital on time for the organ recovery.
  • Provide appropriate equipment, solutions, and pre-operative supplies for recovery and preservation of solid organs in local donor hospitals and during “fly outs.”
  • Perform surgical/OR techniques during organ recovery as they relate to organ preservation.
  • Maintain organ preservation lab and restocks equipment, supplies, solutions, and other inventory as needed.
  • Perform machine pulsatile organ preservation techniques as directed.
