About The Position

Scheduling unit procedures efficiently and accurately is an integral part of providing area providers and their patients a reliable and professional procedural experience. The Surgery Scheduling Lead coordinates surgical case scheduling, optimizing OR block time and facility resources while ensuring accurate and efficient scheduling. Key responsibilities include serving as a scheduling resource to the interdisciplinary team, providing oversight of surgical schedules at Children's Minnesota Surgery Centers, monitoring scheduling accuracy, supporting onboarding and training of new team members, maintaining knowledge of surgical procedures and equipment, partnering with service line leads to maintain preference cards, and partnering with the leadership team in process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Current surgery scheduling experience (2+ years of experience preferred)
  • Outstanding professional and positive customer service skills essential
  • Strong understanding of surgical terminology and workflows
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Positive attitude
  • Problem solving skills
  • Strong computer skills such as Microsoft word, Excel or hospital technology systems
  • Ability to coach others with hospital technology systems
  • Competent with basic medical terminology
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with a clear understanding of English language (reading, writing and speaking)
  • Self-directed, organize and problem solver
  • Ability to multitask, work independently and within a team
