About The Position

Thrive Reconstructive Surgery is a growing private surgical practice with multiple locations across the DFW metroplex.

We are currently seeking a Surgery Scheduler to join our administrative team. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in handling medical insurance authorizations and referrals. This is a vital role in supporting our patients and ensuring our physicians have what they need to provide timely, coordinated care.
Position Summary
As the Surgery Scheduler, you will be responsible for obtaining medical insurance authorizations for surgical procedures, initiating referrals for office visits, coordinating surgeries with several physician's schedules, communicating closely with physicians, and communicating closely with the billing department.

Requirements

• Prior experience with medical insurance authorizations and referrals (required)
• Strong understanding of medical terminology and healthcare billing processes
• Familiarity with EMR systems; experience with Athena is a plus
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Team player that can communicate clearly in a fast-paced environment
• Professional demeanor and a patient-centered approach

Responsibilities

• Obtain prior authorizations for all surgical procedures
• Initiate and track office visit referrals as required by insurance plans
• Collaborate with the medical billing team to resolve chart discrepancies or missing documentation
• Maintain accurate records of authorization status and communications
• Communicate with patients, insurance companies, and internal teams to ensure timely approvals and follow-up
• Ensure all documentation is compliant and properly uploaded to our EMR system
