Under the direction of the Director and Assistant Director of Perioperative and Central Service Operations the Surgery Scheduler is responsible for scheduling surgical cases by communication with the surgeon(s) and their medical office personnel. The surgeon/medical office remains responsible for obtaining pre authorization from the insurance carrier. Stays informed of project progress, perioperative problems and needs. Maintains confidentiality of perioperative information. Cooperates with hospital staff to achieve goals and maintains good employee relations, interdepartmental relations and public relations. Attends meetings as required including in-service meetings and departmental meetings. Strives to remain current in the field of scheduling services, as directed by the unit director(s).
