About The Position

The Surgery First Assistant provides exposure, hemostasis, and other technical functions that will help the surgeon carry out a safe operation while optimizing results for our patients. Essential elements in the art and science of first assisting are attention to detail, thoroughness and complete concentration on the operative field. These activities will only be performed as delegated tasks under the direct and immediate supervision of the responsible surgeon. HOURS: Full Time; 0.75 FTE or 60 hours per pay period. Day Shift. Requirements

Knowledge of surgical standards and practices normally acquired through graduation from an approved accredited school of Surgical Technology.
Has advanced knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology and operative technique related to the operative procedure in which the First Assistant will assist.
Six months of on-the-job training/experience as a First Assist
Current BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire
