About The Position

Responsible for preparing or overseeing critical and complex processing and/or analysis of both surety commercial and construction - financial investigations, both active and claim accounts of jumbo scope and complexity. Provides forensic/accounting construction advisory analysis. Performs the most complex financial analysis utilizing renowned expert technical accounting knowledge. Provides guidance and/or solutions on the most complex surety underwriting and/or claims related accounting issues. Oversees the financial aspects of complex active and claims accounts from inception throughout completion of projects. Proactively and independently provides accounting, financial services, and technical expertise in support of internal Surety staff and external customers. As an expert surety resource, accompanies UWs on client account visits. Provides financial training and development of financial tools to Surety staff. Ensures project results meet requirements regarding technical quality and reliability. May speak as an expert at company and industry conferences. Researches reserve variances and presents findings/recommendations to Management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (Finance or Accounting preferred) or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 10 years of construction finance/accounting related experience expected
  • Renowned expert understanding of construction - financial analysis and construction accounting is required
  • Current knowledge of business tax law and GAAP is required
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and decision-making abilities
  • Experience initiating and leading projects and ability to work with senior managers and key stakeholders in SBU/Corporate Departments
  • Ability to travel required

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree or CPA preferred
  • 15 years of Surety specific experience is preferred
