Weekend, holiday, comp and overtime hours required as needed. Must work a minimum of one home football game every year in addition to every other Thanksgiving week home football game. Purpose Will manage a late night “safe ride” program that is largely student-facing. Responsible for support and services through program development, enhancement, and measurement; Responsible service delivery; Coordination of stakeholder activities, routine communication, forecast budgeting, verification of program compliance, and compliance documentation; Provides customer service; May supervise a team of direct reports or act as an individual contributor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with a combination of at least three years’ experience coordinating programs, coordinating and/or working in a student affairs capacity, and making complex administrative decisions.
  • Must be able to lead and support Sure Walk and UT Night Rides employees (primarily student employees).
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and accomplish tasks in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to be self-managed and work independently when needed.
  • Must be able to collaborate with other staff to effectively complete projects.
  • Must be able to think critically to manage incidents that arise and to support staff in following appropriate Sure Walk and UT Night Rides policies and protocols.
  • Must have a commitment to supporting student safety and success.
  • Must have clean driving record at time of hire and maintain an acceptable TX DMV rating at all times.
  • Upon hire, must complete and pass a criminal background check.
  • Professional demeanor.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proven coordinator skills in a collegiate environment; project coordinator in other fields will also be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree with more than five years’ experience relative to program management.
  • More than three years of university operations experience, and three years supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service experience.
  • Experience as a contributing member of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate hiring of new staff, plan training and monthly staff meetings, oversee vehicle and equipment use and maintenance, and supervise and support staff.
  • Drive designated vehicles including carts, vans, and wheelchair accessible vehicles on a nightly basis.
  • Accompany staff and students on nightly walks/rides across campus and into West Campus.
  • Manage and support the development of the Sure Walk program in both nightly operation duties and the completion of position- specific projects.
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all Sure Walk and UT Night Rides policies and incident response protocols and effectively respond to and report incidents as they occur.
  • Plan and co-facilitate monthly/weekly staff meetings.
  • Serve as a Sure Walk and UT Night Rides representative/advocate at The University of Texas at Austin and community functions.
  • Model professional, academic, and personal integrity in all interactions with staff and riders.
  • Intentionally develop and maintain positive relationships with all staff.
  • Work with other departments to develop and implement projects that meet rider and/or staff needs and align with Sure Walk and UT Night Rides initiatives and programmatic/staff learning outcomes.
  • Work with manager on strategic planning efforts, program visioning, and budget management.
  • Be accessible during evening and weekend hours as agreed upon to respond to incidents and needs of staff during nightly operations.
  • Other related functions as assigned.
