Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous medical office experience, medical terminology coursework preferred.
  • Formal training with at least one (1) years experience as medical assistant, medical secretary, health unit coordinator, nursing assistant or similar role.
  • In lieu of formal training has at least two (2) years experience involving patient care and is able to demonstrate a familiarity with medication names and purpose, a thorough understanding of basic medical terminology, basic knowledge of common diagnoses and surgeries, and patient health interviewing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule office and procedure visits utilizing physician appointment parameters and preferences.
  • Update referral and recall entries in practice management system.
  • Select preparation information to provide to the patient and provide verbal patient education for procedure preparation to supplement written information.
  • Specialty scheduling included but not limited to: BRAVO, CAP, EMR, ERCP, ESD, EUS, FMT, PEG, PNE, and Hospital appointments.
  • Monitor wait list and reports for follow up appointments after clinic and endo.
  • Monitor portal and g-reminders for patient communication.
  • Assist with the optimizing use of physician or physician extender time by monitoring and condensing schedules.
  • Process hospital and contact patients for scheduling follow up and send all clinical follow up to the appropriate clinical team member.
  • Manage staff on a day-to-day basis, to include time off schedules, timecard management, hire, train, evaluate, and develop.
  • Guide staff performance by providing regular feedback, consultation with performance reviews, and one-on-one meetings.
