About The Position

As a Support Staff-Lunch support with Horizons, you will be an integral part of our shared mission of helping children and their families. As you work with our children, you will collaborate with a talented, dedicated team of early childhood professionals. In your role, you will: Maintain all food prep regulations according to ServeSafe Maintain food prep spaces in accordance with ServeSafe cleaning requirements. Distribute snacks and lunches to classrooms. Maintain inventory of lunch and snack food Washing and sanitizing of dishes Communicate inventory needs to the Operations Manager. Collaborate with a talented, dedicated team of Early Childhood Professionals like yourself. Nurture and inspire children who need it most, knowing that you are impacting the lives of children and families each day at Horizons. You will work onsite at our state-of-the-art early learning center in Roxbury, MA. This is a part-time Monday through Friday 25 hour a week position. As a Support Teacher you will support daily meal operations between 10 AM-3 PM. There is a large staff room with indoor and outdoor space for breaks as well as a designated quiet room. Our beautiful office space is located: Edgerley Family Horizons Center at 1785 Columbus Ave, Roxbury, MA. This position requires the employee to comply with all applicable federal, state, local and company policy concerning immunizations, employment physical/screening, Background record check and health and safety training.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written) required, bilingual in Spanish, Haitian Creole, or other languages a plus
  • Cooperates successfully as a member of a team.
  • Communicates effectively with others, including giving and receiving feedback on the quality of services.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated capability to interface and maintain effective relationships with staff, consultants, and regulatory/funding representatives in a team-oriented environment.
  • Capacity to assume responsibility for own professional development.
  • Ability to work in a highly demanding, stressful environment.
  • Candidates should be professional, sensitive, and enthusiastic, and show a commitment to working with families experiencing homelessness
  • Must be able to work full year Monday-Friday 10 AM until 3 PM
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Professional development: must be willing to maintain current certification in First Aid/CPR
