About The Position

The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery is seeking to hire a Support Service Worker for the Alton Mental Health Center, located in Alton, Illinois to perform housekeeping duties for an assigned shift and an assigned area in the forensic building. Operates a variety of cleaning machines and equipment; mops, sweeps, dusts, scrubs, etc., assigned areas to ensure safe, cleanliness and a sanitary environment for patients and staff. Lifts up all trash for assigned areas and disposes. Checks equipment and reports safety hazards or repairs. Shovels and sweeps snow.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of High School supplemented by six (6) months experience in the support service functional area to which assigned.
  • Requires the ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs. and up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
  • Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.

Responsibilities

  • For an assigned shift and an assigned area in the forensic buildings, performs housekeeping duties including but not limited to living rooms, patient rooms, offices, general reception areas, hallways, cafeteria, closets and bathrooms.
  • Lifts up all trash for assigned areas and disposes in trash bins for pick-up, weighing up to 50lbs and up to 100lbs.
  • Checks equipment and reports safety hazards or repairs.
  • Operates a variety of cleaning machines and equipment such as vacuums, scrubbers, buffers, etc.
  • Shovels and sweeps snow from patient patios, stoops and sidewalks.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
