The Support Service Assistant plays a crucial role in the Elko County Sheriff's administration office by performing a variety of clerical, secretarial, and technical tasks. This position supports daily business functions and operations, ensuring compliance with legal and administrative requirements while providing excellent service to the public and internal stakeholders.

  • Testifies in court regarding how civil or criminal records are processed, retained, and protected.
  • Processes concealed weapon licenses (CCW).
  • Processes applications for licenses and work cards.
  • Registers convicted persons and sex offenders.
  • Produces reports for dissemination outside the agency.
  • Maintains and manages coroner reports.
  • Maintains the evidence vault.
  • Processes civil documents for service within the county.
  • Processes garnishments and garnishment payments.
  • Processes fees accepted for payment of services and licenses.
  • Performs fingerprinting for the public.
  • Performs data entry and retrieval, and record management.
  • Answers incoming telephone calls and provides information or routes calls as appropriate.
  • Receives visitors and aids or directs them to the correct area, providing general information and assistance.
  • Participates, assists, and ensures compliance with the short- and long-term goals and objectives of the department.
  • Updates the support services manager on work status and important developments.
  • Represents the department with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous administrative experience preferred.
  • Must maintain a valid Nevada driver's license.
  • National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification.
  • Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certification.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system and methods of processing information through the system.
  • Working knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, especially in dealing with the public.
  • Competitive hourly wage ranging from $20.73 to $24.88 per hour.
