About The Position

The Support Group Facilitator and Podcast Coordinator will play a key role in providing virtual services to individuals impacted by domestic violence (DV), trauma, and other forms of abuse. This employee will facilitate a minimum of four virtual, onsite or in community sessions weekly, including support groups for DV victims, trauma-focused groups co-facilitated with a licensed therapist, and other educational workshops and empowerment sessions for program participants. The position will also oversee the development and execution of a bi-weekly podcast series addressing topics related to domestic violence, trauma recovery, and prevention, sexual violence as well as other mission focused topics. The role is structured to ensure that 50% of the employee’s time is dedicated to facilitating groups and workshops, while the other 50% is focused on podcast production and coordination. The ideal candidate will have strong facilitation skills, technical proficiency, and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals impacted by domestic and sexual violence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field, OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of relative work experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of domestic and sexual violence.
  • Knowledge of community service delivery systems in the community, as well as an understanding of the criminal and civil justice systems.
  • Strong training and facilitation skills and ability to work independently.
  • Prompt response to crisis as well as thorough and consistent follow up with victims/clients and delivery systems, with the skill to manage difficult and/or emotional situations.
  • Good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Proven expertise and knowledge of Vera House services, and meeting expectations on a consistent basis.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify problems and develop solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Domestic Violence Support Group: Facilitate weekly virtual support groups for individuals experiencing or recovering from domestic violence, providing a safe and supportive space for participants to share experiences and receive peer support.
  • Trauma-Focused Group Co-Facilitation: Collaborate with a licensed therapist to co-facilitate virtual trauma recovery groups, ensuring sessions are trauma-informed, engaging, and aligned with participants’ needs.
  • Educational Workshops and Empowerment Sessions: Facilitate virtual workshops on topics such as healthy relationships, self-care, coping strategies, and empowerment.
  • Design and lead other virtual support groups tailored to specific populations, such as survivors of sexual assault, male survivors of violence or teens and young adults.
  • Explore and implement innovative virtual group offerings to meet the needs of diverse populations.
  • Content Development: Plan and produce a bi-weekly podcast series focused on domestic violence, trauma, and related issues, incorporating survivor stories, expert interviews, and community resources.
  • Hosting and Production: Act as the primary host for the podcast, ensuring a professional and engaging tone. Coordinate with internal staff, external guests, and community members to schedule and record episodes.
  • Promotion: Collaborate with the communications team to promote the podcast through social media, email newsletters, and other outreach channels.
  • Evaluation: Track the reach and impact of the podcast series and use feedback to enhance future episodes.
  • Community Partnerships: Collaborate with community organizations to identify unmet virtual support needs and expand program offerings.
  • Participant Support: Provide resources and referrals to participants in virtual groups and maintain regular communication to ensure their needs are being met.
  • Data Collection and Reporting: Track attendance, engagement, and outcomes for all virtual groups and podcast activities, synthesizing this data for program evaluation and funding purposes.
  • Program Innovation: Stay informed about emerging trends in virtual support services and explore innovative ways to enhance Vera House’s virtual offerings.
  • Technical Setup: Manage the technical aspects of virtual groups and podcasts, ensuring smooth operation of platforms such as Zoom, Teams, or podcast hosting tools.
  • Participant Safety: Maintain a trauma-informed and confidential environment for all virtual groups and ensure participants’ safety and comfort during sessions.
  • Policies and Procedures: Ensure all virtual services are compliant with Vera House policies, procedures, and best practices for working with survivors of trauma.
  • Chat Support: Oversee the Chat line support and provide hours directly answering chat line and entering data in the database.
