Purpose The Support Cleanroom Technician supports laboratory and semiconductor process equipment operations, including regular maintenance, ordering and stocking of supplies, and providing user training.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum one year of experience in operation, maintenance and/or construction of equipment in semiconductor or thin-film processing environments.
  • Proven commitment to high work standards with the ability to consistently follow standard operation protocols and safety regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to pass fit test for self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Two years of experience in semiconductor or thin-film processing environments.
  • Strong mechanical and electronic troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with vacuum systems, thermal sources, and cleanroom protocols.
  • Knowledge of device fabrication processes.
  • Training in emergency response procedures for hazardous gas events.
  • Prior experience as an Emergency Response Team (ERT) member and SCBA certification is preferred.
  • Vacuum science knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and organize laboratory inventory by monitoring stock levels and ordering supplies and parts as needed to support cleanroom operations.
  • Support equipment maintenance and repairs by assisting the tool technician, including locating and preparing tools, parts, and supplies; coordinating delivery into the cleanroom as needed; and supporting the disassembly or dismount of systems for sending sub-assemblies out for repair.
  • Train new users on entry-level cleanroom systems by providing hands-on instruction, verifying competency, and ensuring adherence to established operating procedures and safety protocols.
  • Support the operation and upkeep of vacuum pumps and chillers, including performing routine oil changes, refilling chillers with approved non-toxic fluids, and transporting equipment for repair when necessary.
  • Track and maintain inventory of core supplies and user-level materials, such as spare parts, standard chemicals, and inert gases, and place replenishment orders in accordance with facility procedures.
  • Perform inert gas cylinder exchanges in compliance with all standard operating procedures and safety requirements.
  • Collect, label, package, and submit hazardous waste from cleanrooms and shared laboratories, and submit disposal information online through Environmental Management Services (EMS).
  • Stock standard chemicals, consumables, and user supplies within the cleanroom, ensuring all materials are properly stored, tracked, and made available to users.
  • Assist with shipping and receiving activities, including preparing equipment and materials for shipment, crating and uncrating items, and coordinating deliveries relevant to cleanroom operations.
  • Clean and prepare parts and components for use in semiconductor processing equipment, following established cleaning protocols to ensure readiness for maintenance or installation.
  • Actively participate as a designated member of the facility’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) during assigned work and after-hours periods, contributing to emergency preparedness planning, incident management, and compliance with safety protocols to ensure a secure and responsive laboratory environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support cleanroom operations and facility goals.
