The role of the Supply Yard Foreman is to plan and manage the Yard storage, transportation, and timely delivery of mine supplies to the surface operations. This position requires demonstrating and directing employees in safe work practices, providing a safe work environment, maintaining required supply levels to ensure continuous operation of surface operations, and controlling costs through proper storage and handling of supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safe work performance of assigned workforce and develop the required job skills of the assigned workforce.
  • Ensure legal compliance especially in areas of environmental impact and surface safety.
  • Daily coordination of mine supply needs with department managers.
  • Plan and fulfill the daily mine supply requirements.
  • Plan and manage the safe, efficient and timely movement of all mine supplies, cars and equipment into and out of the mine.
  • Ensure proper and efficient organization and storage of supplies.
  • Track assigned equipment maintenance and generate requisitions with IFS.
  • Manage the inventory of assigned supplies.
  • Continuously improve supply and yard performance.
  • Ensure the security of the assigned yard area.
  • Control costs associated with material waste and destruction through proper supply handling, storage and inventory rotation.
  • Manage the storage and handling, tracking and disposal of hazardous materials, (e.g.) oils, diesel fuel, residual waste.
  • Maintain assigned areas according to mine safety and legal standards.
  • Ensure compliance with UMWA contract for area of responsibility.
  • Ensure safe operation and condition of mobile and rail haulage equipment.
  • Coordinate the movement and storage of supplies onto the property.
  • Plan for the timely removal of used materials, supplies and equipment from the mine property for disposal, rebuild or sale.
