Our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics and Global Services supporting Caterpillar dealers and customers. Our teams work together in critical areas that leverage digital capabilities, technology and operational excellence. As a Supply Chain Planning Engineer, you will be responsible for facility performance targets for inventory storage utilization and improved efficiency as well as managing capital improvement projects where realized benefits are evident. Additional Information: This role is located in Morton, IL and does not offer relocation This role is 1st shift This role is 100% on-site with no opportunities for hybrid or remote schedules This role requires up to 10% domestic travel

Requirements

  • Process Improvement: Understanding and insight into evaluating current product quality and production methods and ability to maintain focus on the continuous improvement of processes, products and services.
  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives
  • Experience with Warehouse Operations and Warehouse Management Systems

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or Business and/or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years previous experience in one of the following functional areas: Supply Chain, Manufacturing / Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Inventory Management, 6 Sigma/Cat Production System
  • Previous experience in Logistics Planning & Engineering or as a Supply Chain Planning Analyst or Supply Chain Engineer or with Automation implementations and support
  • Understanding of Industrial Engineering Principles
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, priority setting, and communication skills
  • EWM Warehouse management experience
  • Knowledge of inbound packaging operations
  • 1-2 years of experience with AutoCAD

Responsibilities

  • Work independently as well as work effectively with diverse, multi-functional teams
  • Gather and analyze data on facility demand and demand variability
  • Gather and analyze data about packaging, inbound and outbound functions throughout the facility
  • Manage the facility rearrangement plan and rearrangement team to complete planned rearrangement activities, including capacity and productivity goals for the Distribution Center
  • Complete capital purchasing functions for the facility, including procurement, installation and place-into-service
  • Maintain facility product slotting rules to align with inventory profile changes over time
  • Look for continuous improvement opportunities throughout the entire facility and make expert recommendations for process changes to improve results
  • Lead and/or participate on cross-functional teams targeting facility improvements
  • Collaborate with engineers globally to benchmark best practices and implement improvements
  • Work with WMS to optimize setup for local business conditions
