About The Position

A Supply Chain Intern position with Kiewit provides a hands-on learning experience directly related to the skills needed in a full-time career. You will have the opportunity to develop, participate and learn key roles and functions within supply chain management to support our construction operations. As a Supply Chain Intern, you will gain exposure to areas such as Estimating, Contracts, Quality, Purchasing, Logistics & Compliance, Material Management and much more! Requirements

  • Ability to work full-time during the summer (approximately May-August)
  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Supply Chain Management or related
  • Genuine interest and passion for the field of purchasing/procurement
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented, highly motivated with ability to effectively manage time
  • Team player with the ability to work well independently
  • Ability to maintain excellent attendance
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check

Nice To Haves

  • Technical knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Customer service and leadership experience

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate, renegotiate, and administer contracts with suppliers, vendors and other representatives
  • Purchase the highest quality materials at the lowest possible cost in correct amounts per specifications and drawings
  • Maintain and review computerized or manual records of items purchased, costs, deliveries, product performance, and inventories
  • Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities and the supplier's reputation and history
  • Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and determine needs for changes
  • Prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review requisitions for goods and services
  • Design and present an End of Program Presentation to showcase your work and development throughout this internship
