General Summary Supports plant-level purchasing activities to ensure the execution of the strategies established at the corporate level while supporting plant operations. Executes strategies to improve transaction efficiencies, makes efforts to purchase at the best "value" for the plant (total cost, terms, quality, delivery, effectiveness, risk). Provides supply crib management to ensure storage, organization, and distribution of tools, parts, and materials, ensuring inventory is properly tracked, maintained, and available to support production or maintenance operations. Purchases MRO items, materials, and services for the plant at the lowest possible total cost Negotiates the best business value for the spot-buy items purchased. Improves transaction efficiency in the purchasing process to minimize administrative costs. Reduces the number of purchases outside of an agreement (Unplanned or “spot buys”). Works to minimize “uniqueness” of products, services, and suppliers for the plant by collaborating with internal customers and other purchasing team members at all company locations. Conducts Purchasing processes Ensures discipline to follow processes and procedures. Reviews / Audits for PO and contract compliance. Documents work processes and insures uniformity of practices in support of plant operations. Supports plant efforts to obtain and document competitive bids for services and capital expenditures to facilitate the decision making and approval process. Manages Supply Crib Accurate processing of receiving documents, goods and raw materials. Conduct appropriate incoming inspection as required to assure quality of items. Receive, store and issue machine tools, machine parts and materials. Keeps records and inventory of all items in tool crib. Maintain required inventory levels. Leverages strategies to reduce the # of items, # of transactions that are inventoried. Work with plant personnel to ensure proper stocking levels and maximize inventory turns. Assists in creating material item files for new items added to inventory. Supports inventory accuracy by cycle counting at a frequency which will maintain high levels of accuracy. Maintain strong knowledge of parts, and efficient location of inventory Supports cross-functional plant initiatives for continuous improvement. Strives to ensure stakeholder’s needs are considered. Facilitates participation of suppliers to support cross-functional cost reduction initiatives. Uses written communication effectively to document and outline actions required to complete tasks. Documents supplier performance. Insures adherence to agreements (price, terms, delivery, and responsiveness). Reports performance exceptions, both good and bad Performs other duties as assigned and participates in ad hoc projects as needed.
