About The Position

Serve as a Supply Chain Department liaison for clinics and operating rooms throughout the hospital. This role involves utilizing Microsoft Excel, SPM, and Tableau to locate supplies and instruments, and maintaining prompt communication with hospital staff regarding emergencies and requests. The position requires physical mobility throughout the hospital, including the ability to move up to 25 pounds, frequently transport heavy case carts, and move and position oneself to handle inventory on high/low shelving. A valid driver’s license is needed. The scheduled hours are 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM with rotating weekends and holidays, and the position is performed fully on campus. The Material Services Division at University of Iowa Health Care provides a comprehensive selection of patient care supplies, aiming to offer safe, quality products at minimal expense and maximum process efficiencies, while encouraging centralization of material management functions and accessibility. The division encompasses Processed Stores, Mail Services, Uniform Shop, and Linen Services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Related supply chain experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel.
  • Prompt communication with hospital staff regarding emergencies and requests.
  • Ability to move throughout hospital, move up to 25 pounds, and frequently transport heavy case carts.
  • Ability to move and position self to handle inventory, including high/low shelving.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Procure and deliver goods and services: Evaluate, procure, receive, store, and deliver goods and services.
  • Initiate requisitions to procure goods and services at the direction of others.
  • Organize and maintain hospital inventory.
  • Research Products, Prepare Product/ Equipment Specifications, and Contract Management: Obtain and verify information regarding sourcing and acquisition options at the request of others.
  • Review contracts for accurate pricing and apply terms and conditions.
  • Inventory Management and Marketing: Receive, properly store and distribute product.
  • Address inventory issues related to the supply chain and suggest models for improvement.
  • Maintain and secure inventory and report issues as needed.
  • Responsible for implementation of marketing strategy or plan.
  • Assist with inventory management throughout the hospital.
  • Cycle count, order, restock, and receive products.
  • Vendor and Customer Relations: Interact with vendors/suppliers to assure the appropriate goods or services are being procured effectively and efficiently.
  • Interact with internal and external customers, answer questions about orders and shipments.
  • Reconcile discrepancies and address customer concerns.
  • Work directly with hospital staff to effectively communicate supply chain requests and/or issues for resolution.
  • Data Management or Data Systems Development: Maintain inventory/equipment database(s).
  • Responsible for the maintenance of inventory data and scanning.
  • Fiscal Responsibility: Monitor the budget and assist with managing the budget within defined parameters.
  • Advise management on budgetary needs or discrepancies.
  • Leadership/Supervision: May provide functional and/or administrative supervision of staff.
  • May provide training to other employees and hospital end users.
  • Respond to emails and meeting requests appropriately and timely.
  • Other duties as assigned.
