About The Position

Global Power Components is a privately held, growing manufacturer of UL heavy gauge steel fuel tanks, trailers, large generator enclosures and metal modular equipment centers for housing fully equipped electrical distribution and control equipment. As a result of our expansion, we are looking for a Supplier Quality Specialist.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Quality, Manufacturing, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2–5 years of experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Quality, or Manufacturing
  • Travel required for 10-25% of working hours (supplier audits / issues)
  • Experience working directly with suppliers or vendors
  • Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic data tracking tools

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting supplier audits or ISO-based quality systems
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as welding, coating, or fabrication
  • Experience with supplier scorecards, vendor issue tracking, or corrective action systems
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis methods (5 Why, Fishbone, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage the Vendor Issue Log, ensuring timely documentation, follow-up, and closure of supplier-related quality issues
  • Develop, maintain, and publish Supplier Scorecards measuring quality, delivery, responsiveness, and corrective action effectiveness
  • Track and analyze supplier performance trends and support continuous improvement efforts
  • Coordinate with the Quality Assurance team to qualify and approve new and existing suppliers
  • Issue, collect, and review supplier self-assessment questionnaires for new vendor qualification
  • Maintain and control the Approved Supplier List (ASL)
  • Prequalify suppliers for outsourced manufacturing processes including welding, painting, and blasting
  • Work closely with the Purchasing Manager and purchasing team to support vendor onboarding and sourcing decisions
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for supplier quality-related communication
  • Maintain strong working relationships with suppliers to support issue resolution and performance improvement
  • Provide supplier performance insights to Purchasing to support supplier selection and risk management
  • Participate in supplier audits in coordination with the Supply Chain Director and Quality Assurance team
  • Document audit findings, corrective action requirements, and follow-up actions
  • Support compliance with internal quality standards and customer requirements
  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance team and suppliers to issue, track, and close Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs)
  • Support root cause analysis activities and verify corrective action effectiveness
  • Escalate repeat or high-risk supplier issues to the Purchasing Manager and Quality leadership as appropriate
