Job Summary: The Supplier Quality Supervisor is responsible for implementing and directing supplier quality assurance efforts to ensure components and other materials received from suppliers conform to quality standards based on the requirements and expectations of the organization and customer. This individual is responsible for managing the overall compliance profile and quality performance of the Lynnwood supply base.

Requirements

  • Experience: 2+ years closely related work experience in the defense, space electronics or high-end aerospace industry;2+ years leadership experience
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of Quality Management Systems as well as Process Improvement and Control Techniques; Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing best practices, process control, logistics processes (inventory management), engineering management (project management), APQP/PPAP (AS9145) and safety management
  • Skills/Abilities: Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Effective written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills; Ability to manage through influence; Ability to demonstrate a strong sense of urgency
  • Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Management, or other related discipline
  • Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Responsibilities

  • Non-Conformance Management: Supervising the handling of non-conformance reports (NCRs) and supplier rejection reports (SRRs). This includes ensuring that suppliers notify the organization of non-conformances before shipment, reviewing SRRs, and confirming Material Review Board (MRB) authority for NCR disposition.
  • Corrective Action Implementation and Verification: The Supplier Quality Engineering Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that corrective actions are effectively implemented to address nonconformities. This includes determining the root cause, implementing solutions to prevent recurrence, and verifying the effectiveness of these actions. The supervisor must also ensure timely corrective actions and maintain records of all actions taken to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Supplier Communication and Documentation: Ensuring suppliers submit complete and accurate documentation, such as SRR forms, and addressing any incomplete submissions by requiring revisions. The Supervisor also ensures that approved/closed NCRs are attached to shipments.
  • Inspection and Verification: Overseeing the inspection criteria and ensuring that receiving inspection teams verify NCR dispositions. This includes ensuring that completed NCRs are included with parts sent to production or stockrooms.
  • Process Control and Improvement: Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and implement control plans, ensuring alignment with process flow diagrams, and employing preventive measures rather than detection methods to maintain quality.
  • Risk Management: Planning and controlling risks within operations, including production and service provision, by identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks that exceed acceptable criteria. This involves annual risk assessments and implementing mitigation plans.
  • Training and Awareness: The Supplier Quality Engineering Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that Supplier Quality Engineers (SQEs) are equipped with the necessary technical skills to perform their roles effectively. This includes providing training on key quality standards such as AS9100, and AS9145, as well as specific tools and techniques like root cause analysis, and statistical process control (SPC). The supervisor should also ensure that SQEs are proficient in using quality management systems (QMS) within Oracle and other relevant software for tracking and managing supplier performance. Regular technical workshops, certifications, and hands-on training sessions should be conducted to keep the team updated on the latest industry practices and technologies. Additionally, mentoring programs can be implemented to help SQEs develop expertise in areas such as supplier audits, corrective action implementation, and risk management. This technical focus ensures that the team is well-prepared to address complex quality challenges and maintain high standards in supplier quality management.
