About The Position

The Supplier Quality Engineer is a key component in any partnership with Ride Control LLC and their supply chain. The SQE’s role is to ensure that all suppliers meet the required quality standards and specifications set forth in the Ride Control LLC Supplier Quality & Development Manual, IATF/ISO Standards, and Customer requirements. This involves evaluating supplier processes, conducting audits, coaching, supporting root-cause analysis activities, performing scheduled/unscheduled visits, driving corrective action on systemic issues, monitoring CS1/CS2 sorting activity, and recouping costs in a timely manner. The SQE will contribute to a cooperative work environment and adhere to Ride Control LLC’s code of conduct, where fairness, equity, and non-discriminatory practices are the standard. The SQE candidate must have a valid driver's license and an active passport. This position requires up to 60% combined domestic and international travel. When travel is not active, the employee will resume the company’s on-site 5-day work schedule at the corporate location in Farmington Hills, Michigan, or Queretaro, Mexico, or at the designated regional location: Monday–Friday (8 am-5 pm).

Requirements

  • Five (5) years of Supplier Quality experience in automotive components.
  • Experience in the following audits: IATF Internal Auditing (certification required) PPAP process from award of program to sop (start of production) Capacity Study / Run@Rate Control Plan Process Walk/Review
  • Six Sigma Experience – Green Belt Minimum
  • Supplier Risk Assessments
  • Sourcing / Resourcing Activity
  • Engineering and technical competence are required.
  • Managing 3rd party sorting activity
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision is necessary.
  • Excellent computer skills (Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, SharePoint, ERP systems (CMS/Epicor/IQMS)
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • A demonstrated ability to use initiative, strong business acumen, and proven ability to think critically.
  • Domestic and international travel is mandatory up to 60%, and you must have a valid passport and driver’s license.
  • Can manage activities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven automotive experience in metals, stampings, rubber, plastic injection, forging, machining, sintered metals, and springs.

Nice To Haves

  • Fluency in one or more languages will be a definite asset, but not required; Spanish.
  • China & India experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • As part of the Quality team, will assist Ride Control LLC Plants.
  • Analyzes and completes Supplier Risk assessments.
  • Conducts on-site and virtual Supplier audits and works with suppliers to develop corrective actions, with follow-up, and completes validation analysis.
  • Proactively works with the various Ride Control LLC Operations in reviewing supplier quality and delivery performance issues.
  • Determine potential risks on various components and ways to mitigate any disruptions to the manufacturing facilities.
  • Ensures Action Plans are developed and monitored for risk-based suppliers.
  • Supports Run @ Rates and PPAP activities where necessary.
  • Completes weekly/monthly Executive Reports for Quality, Operations, and Purchasing.
  • Publish quarterly supplier scorecards.
