About The Position

Your work as a Supplier Quality Engineer will be critical to ensuring the reliability and performance of our products, so we are seeking a detail-oriented professional with a passion for quality and supplier management to join our Supply Chain team at our BAE Systems, York, Pennsylvania site. As a Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE), you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality of our suppliers' products by investigating, evaluating, and resolving supplier quality problems, collaborating with Supplier Quality Assurance, Receiving Inspection, Procurement, Engineering, and Program Quality on supplier issues, and guiding suppliers toward lasting improvements. Please note: As we are hiring for up to four (4) SQEs, we may consider candidates with additional experience for a more senior role, or with fewer years experience for a more junior role.

Requirements

  • Failure Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, and Corrective/Preventative Actions
  • ISO 9001 and AS9100 Quality Systems
  • Effective communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation)
  • Cross-Functional collaboration skills
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • “Zero Defect” mentality & practical problem-solving tool knowledge
  • Experience with quality gauges and measuring tools
  • Working knowledge of mechanical drawing interpretation and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T)
  • Computer skills: MS Office Suite and industry software applications
  • Able to support travel of up to 25%.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Quality) or related discipline
  • Experience in Defense Prime Contract environment or similar
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma concepts and tools (e.g., Green/Black Belt)
  • Strong knowledge of complex manufacturing processes

Responsibilities

  • Lead supplier quality investigations, evaluations, and resolutions, driving continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring compliance with quality standards
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely and accurate submission of quality documentation, enforce purchase order requirements, and drive supplier performance improvements
  • Champion problem-solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to eliminate non-conformances and foster a culture of quality excellence
  • Drive supplier quality and performance improvements through data-driven insights and collaborative problem-solving
  • Ensure program success by coordinating quality activities across multiple projects and stakeholders
  • Execute containment and inventory management activities to prevent defects and ensure product reliability
