Interested in joining us on our journey? The Supplier Quality Engineer Plastics will lead the improvement of supplier processes, enhancing quality, and value-add to GEA's manufacturing. This person will manage the launch of all New Product Implementations (NPI) ensuring that the supply chain meets expectations for quality and delivery. This person will manage suppliers reactively and proactively which includes continuous improvement and development of the supplier, cross-functional support for all related programs, and triage and monitoring permanent counter measures.

Requirements

  • 3 years' Supply Chain, Quality and/or technical experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Engineering or Technical degree (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) or equivalent technical experience.
  • Demonstrated project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated leadership to influence and drive change within a highly matrixed organization.
  • Working knowledge of Quality systems and processes.
  • Fluent computer skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% to suppliers as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with and knowledge of plastic injection molding and its manufacturing processes.
  • Strong background in applying statistical tools for product and process development and control (i.e. Gage R&R, Process Capability, Control Plans, SPC, Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and Design of Experiments (DOE)).
  • Skilled and experienced with reading and understanding engineering drawings, dimensions, and tolerances. Basic understanding of GD&T.
  • Experienced with PPAP and problem-solving tools and techniques (SCAR, 8-D, 5 Whys, 7 Ways, Fishbone, Pareto, and Six Sigma).
  • Demonstrated ability to simplify complex information and prepare concise executive summaries.
  • Lean experience or Six Sigma Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Own all aspects of supplier relationships that impact Cost of Quality (COQ) to GE Appliances for plastic suppliers. This includes qualification of suppliers, quality engineering, continuous improvement, and issue resolution.
  • Initiate and lead the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process. Partner with Technology to identify, understand and abate issues for New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • Lead and own comprehensive Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) on all NPI parts with qualified parts delivered prior to pilot.
  • Perform annual audits to monitor supplier QMS (Quality Management System) compliance and effectiveness and identify necessary corrective actions and improvements tracking to closure.
  • Implement projects involving process changes, Transfer of Work (TOW), and material changes through the GE Appliances Change Control Process.
  • Monitor and resolve supplier performance issues by problem solving through defect mode definition, containment, identification of root cause, and corrective action with SCAR. Ensure all supplier defects causing manufacturing or consumer issues are eliminated by developing robust quality control plans and implementing sustainable corrective actions.
  • Champion the use of quality tools, Supplier Composite Scorecard, and other data to identify and drive quality projects across all suppliers resulting in the overall improvement of supplier value to GE Appliances (delivery, quality, cost).
  • Utilize LEAN manufacturing concepts to improve supplier processes to deliver on cost savings ideas including reduction of waste and rework.
  • Work cross functionally with technology, manufacturing, and sourcing leaders to implement continuous improvement projects.
