About The Position

The Marvin Group, a leading defense contractor, plays a crucial role in the development and manufacturing of various systems for military aerospace and vehicles. Based in Southern California near the Los Angeles International Airport, The Marvin Group consists of Marvin Engineering (MEC), Marvin Test Solutions (MTS) and Marvin Land Systems (MLS).  Marvin Engineering designs and produces military Alternate Mission Equipment.  Marvin Test Solutions designs and manufactures armament Test Equipment. Marvin Land Systems specializes in the design and build of power and thermal management systems. Our collaboration extends across a diverse array of programs and platforms, including major military prime contractors such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Raytheon. The Supplier Quality Engineer mentors and provides guidance to fellow team members and evaluates suppliers based on their ability to supply product in accordance with MEC, MLS and customer requirements. Supplier Quality is responsible for eliminating the impact of vendor caused defects to Marvin Engineering and production through rapid defect containment, resolution, and corrective action. Evaluates suppliers based on their ability to supply product in accordance with corporate and customer requirements. Criteria for evaluations are established and defined in corporate procedures. The results of evaluation and on-going quality and delivery performance evaluations are recorded.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Logistics, or Supply Chain preferred.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience, preferably in the aerospace and defense industry.
  • Understanding of GD&T and ability to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of industry specifications and standards (e.g., AS9100, ANSI, ASME).
  • Knowledge of government and regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of a variety of manufacturing processes.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office; with emphasis on Excel manipulation of data and metrics.
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, and self-motivated.
  • Work in a team environment and must have good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to read/write/speak in English
  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Quality Engineering tools (e.g., Cause Map, 5-Why) preferred.
  • Knowledge of inspection methods a plus.
  • Technical writing skills preferred.
  • Lean and/or Green Belt certification a plus.
  • CSQP or CQE certification a plus.
  • Familiarity with SAP a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to Supply Chain and other internal functions in applying quality system requirements.
  • Train suppliers and other MEC personnel on specifications and requirements for suppliers.
  • Maintain and analyze supplier score cards and its raw data.
  • Generate weekly metrics to understand trends and performance of suppliers.
  • Issue Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR) or Supplier Notifications (SN).
  • Maintain SCAR process and ensure closed loop corrective action and proper root cause identification.
  • Manage Approved Supplier List (ASL) per MEC policy and procedures.
  • Improve supplier quality performance via implementation of get-well plans, milestones, etc.
  • Attend daily Receiving Inspection huddles or shop floor huddles as requested.
  • Prepare detailed trip reports to document site visits, audit findings and observations.
  • Conduct supplier quality system audits/survey are required or requested.
  • Ensure counterfeit part avoidance and application of the Government/ Industry Data Exchange Program (GIDEP) alert system with suppliers.
  • Communicate quality issues to suppliers as needed and help develop corrective actions.
  • Assess supplier capabilities through technical discussion and quality system assessments.
  • Conduct supplier site visits to deliver score cards, provide RCCA training, assist with SCAR process, etc.
  • Build relationships with cross-functional groups to identify, reduce and ultimately eliminate impacts from vendor defects
