About The Position

As a Supplier Quality Assurance Specialist at Mars you will assure compliance to our supplier management and risk assessment standards/plans. You will lead supplier audits, while acting as the subject matter expert regarding the ingredient or material for which you are leading. Your goal will be to mitigate any recall risk, and assure that we are delivering the best quality products possible to our customers.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of commercial/supplier quality experience.
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time.
  • Manufacturing experience, with the willingness and physical capability to work in such environments when necessary.
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise in the processing of materials and ingredients for your given product line.
  • Lead several aspects of the supplier relationship, including metrics and data compliance, quality audits, and hazard controls.
  • Partner with internal buyers to ensure all material specifications are reviewed, understood, and agreed to by the suppliers.
  • Perform supplier audits & initial assessments.
  • Verify the quality and effectiveness of the controls by auditing the suppliers' production facilities and implement & follow up corrective actions where needed.
  • Represent Mars at suppliers and ensure all suppliers are assigned a current status and defined verification plans.
  • Manage risks (verified & identified during audits & non-conformances) by initiating and driving actions, both internally and externally at the supplier.
  • Monitor and report quality performance of suppliers and undertake supplier development activities to build capabilities.
  • Contribute Q&FS insights to supply strategy.
  • Develop, interpret and report metrics related to key performance indicators.
  • Manage ad-hoc quality supplier related issues.
  • Initiate, drive and follow-up on corrective actions related to materials & suppliers and inform internal stakeholders.
  • Assess the risks of existing and new materials and ensure these risks are transferred into specifications (microbiological, chemical and physical).
  • Understand the controls that suppliers have in place for controlling these risks.
