About The Position

The Senior Specialist, Supplier Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for performing in-process and final inspections of complex aerospace hardware in accordance with contractual, drawing, and specification requirements. This role requires advanced knowledge of GD&T, blueprint interpretation, and inspection methodologies to ensure product conformity. The Inspector will work under stamp warranty authority, performing product acceptance on behalf of Aerojet Rocketdyne, L3Harris (Missile Solutions), and will partner closely with Supplier Quality Engineers (SQEs) and Quality Management to ensure product comformity and mission success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant quality inspector experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related quality inspector experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related quality inspector experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of prior relevant quality inspection experience in aerospace or a highly regulated industry.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to conduct short-notice, on-site supplier inspections nationwide.
  • Prior aerospace industry experience supporting supplier quality or source inspection activities.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Inspector certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of AS9102 FAIR Requirements.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001 quality systems and contractual compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with nonconformance documentation, corrective action processes, and supplier quality systems.
  • GD&T principles and applications.
  • Previous or current NDT Inspection experience (e.g. Radiographic, Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection, Ultra Sonic).
  • Previous or current Welding Inspection.
  • Experience with composite and assembly inspections.
  • Experience with machined product inspection.
  • Experience performing independent product acceptance under stamp warranty.
  • Proficiency in inspection tool usage, including hand tools, precision measurement instruments, Borescope, surface gages, and visual inspection aids.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed in process and final inspections on machined parts, composites, and complex assemblies to verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and contractual requirements.
  • Perform final data package review per contractual requirements for final electronic acceptance with stamp warranty.
  • Apply advanced Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) knowledge to validate product conformity.
  • Utilize a variety of inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gages, visual aids, and other precision measurement instruments).
  • Interpret and analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure proper inspection coverage.
  • Collaborate with assigned Supplier Quality Engineers (SQEs) and Quality Managers to resolve non-conformances, drive corrective actions, and support continuous improvement.
  • Support supplier quality activities, which may include travel across the country for on-site inspections, sometimes with immediate deployment.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal procedures, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards.
