About The Position

Plans, organizes, directs and reports on all supplier quality-related activities such as raw materials, packaging materials, good manufacturing practices (GMP) service providers, as well as contract manufacturers, and/or contract manufacturing and laboratories to assure fulfillment of contract/purchase order requirements. Translates engineering, manufacturing, and quality requirements. Assures that customer quality-imposed technical requirements are adhered to by supplier and that a quality system is maintained. Conducts programs designed to improve supplier performance, productivity, and process validation. Prepares, maintains and reviews procurement quality assurance procedures to assure compliance with customer and/or government requirements. Reviews and analyzes corrective action reports and purchase orders in an effort to reduce and eliminate defects. Monitors quality control activities and systems at supplier and subcontractor facilities, and maintains feedback loops. May administer a certified supplier program or related programs in receiving inspection. May also audit third party manufacturers, due diligence and vendor selection process. May perform deviation investigations into quality issues. Frequent use and General Knowledge of Industry Practices, Techniques, and Standards in Electrical, Machinery,  Structural, HVAC Equipment  and Quality Inspection Capacity. Demonstrate the skill and ability to perform fairly complex tasks and participates in determining objectives of these assignments. Plan schedules and arranges own activities in accomplishing objectives. Be able to work under very general supervision. Will have frequent internal company and external supplier manufacturing contacts. Represent the  organization on specific projects.

Requirements

  • Must attach a resume.
  • Must have High School diploma/GED with eleven (11) years of experience, Bachelor's Degree with three (3) years of experience; or Masters with one (1) year of experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience can be used in lieu of degree.
  • Must have 5 years experience as a Journeyman in Electrical, Machinery, Pipe, Hull or Castings in a Shipyard or Marine setting.
  • Must have ability to inspect confined spaces, stooping, crawling, bending, climbing ladders and stairs when required.
  • Should be able to read a blueprint.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Technical Skills, Experiences and Inspections in Shipboard Electrical & Electronics, HVAC Equipment Systems Installation and Operation, Machinery, Structural, Piping and Castings.
  • Quality Experience in Inspections and Audits Preferred.
  • Proven Leadership Ability, Communication and Relationship Skills – able to deal effectively with all Levels of Ingalls Representatives, Customer Representatives and Suppliers Representatives.
  • Experience in a Marine setting and environment are preferred.
  • Any outside Certification in a Shipyard or Marine Discipline are also preferred.
  • Should have demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office products.
  • Should have experience working with cross functional teams.
  • Should have experience interfacing with both internal and external customers.
