About The Position

Under the general direction of the WIC Administrator performs professional, administrative and supervisory work planning, administering and evaluating the WIC Program. Participates in the supervision of employee activities in WIC programs and performs professional assistance in the planning, development, maintenance and evaluation of WIC programs.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics or Nutrition.
  • One (1) year of dietetics experience in the form of an internship required for membership in the American Dietetic Association.
  • Four (4) years of experience as a Registered Dietitian in public health.
  • Must be a Registered Dietitian.
  • Must be licensed with the State of Utah (Certified Dietitian (CD).

Responsibilities

  • Supervises nutrition staff, which includes hiring, orienting, training, assigning and reviewing work performance, annual work performance appraisal, and discipline.
  • Prepares and oversees the completion of state required modules and training for all staff.
  • Provide ongoing direction, guidance, and feedback to supervised staff.
  • Provide back-up support (complete nutrition appointments) to nutrition staff.
  • Completes assigned program monitoring and shares in supervisors meeting. Create plan to fix any issues.
  • Assist in keeping the appointment schedule balanced and feasible for the WIC staff and WIC participants. Enter the master schedule quarterly.
  • Monitors and assesses nutritional services and assists in the development and preparation of the annual Nutrition Education Plan.
  • Plan and conduct monthly in-service/staff meetings.
  • Attend supervisory and committee meetings as appropriate. Help maintain an efficient and well-managed clinic by providing support to all WIC staff.
  • Provide direction and support to achieve public health outcomes both through the WIC Division and in collaborations with other divisions (Health Promotion, Clinical Nursing and Environmental Health).
  • Assists in the preparation of the annual Nutrition Education Plan and the State WIC Management Evaluation. Plans and implements corrective action and written responses to the annual Management Evaluation as required by the Federal and State WIC policies and procedures.
  • Investigates alleged program abuse by clients, and issues appropriate corrective action.
  • Other duties as assigned.
