About The Position

Securing Travel, Protecting People - At the Transportation Security Administration, you will serve in a high-stakes environment to safeguard the American way of life. In cities across the country, you would secure airports, seaports, railroads, highways, and/or public transit systems, thus protecting America's transportation infrastructure and ensuring freedom of movement for people and commerce. This Supervisory Human Resources Specialist position is located within Human Capital (HC) Talent Management (TM), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Duties include but are not limited to: Provides the Recruitment and Hiring for high volumes of mission essential positions at HQs and the Field (e.g. Transportation Security Officers, Federal Air Marshals, and Management Administrative and Professional positions); serves as a subject matter expert in recruitment, staffing and placement of employees; performing job analysis; workforce planning, analysis; and advising management in identifying, attracting, and retaining a high-quality workforce. Applies human resources management theories, principles, methods, and practices in providing HR services and resolving challenging Recruitment and Hiring matters. Provides expert advice and recommendations to customers; as well as identifies trends, patterns, and problem areas and develops alternative courses of action necessary to meet Talent Management program objectives or customer needs. Provides policy guidance in the development of HC strategic plans, performance goals and metrics. Supervisory/Managerial Probationary Period Requirements: Unless previously completed, you must satisfactorily complete a one-year supervisory probationary period to continue in this supervisory/managerial position.

Requirements

  • You must possess U.S. Citizenship or be a U.S. National.
  • You must have reached the minimum age (18) at the time of application.
  • You must complete a favorable Background Investigation (BI).
  • Selective Service registration is required.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • You must complete a 1-year supervisory probationary period if not already completed.
  • To qualify for the SV-K Pay Band (equivalent to GS-15), you must have one year of specialized experience at the SV-J Band or GS-14 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience includes researching, interpreting, applying, and advising others on Federal laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines for the following HR functional areas: Recruitment and staffing; operating in a high-volume hiring environment; coordinating candidate assessment activities; supporting onboarding procedures; resolving complex candidate issues; AND
  • Briefing management and communicating complex human resources issues in a clear, concise, and logical manner to a variety of audiences at various levels of the organization; AND
  • Experience conducting special projects or comprehensive reviews/studies to evaluate and resolve Recruitment and Hiring operational issues.
