About The Position

The Supervisory Accounting Officer position at the Department of the Air Force is designed for a first-level supervisor responsible for planning, directing, organizing, and controlling the activities of nonsupervisory employees within SAF/FMFA. Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, information management, computer science, business administration, or related field is desirable; an advanced degree is highly desirable.
  • At least one year of specialized experience at the GS-13 level or equivalent in other pay systems, involving financial management and advising on budgeting, programming, cost analysis, and management analysis.
  • Knowledge of auditing, Federal Accounting standards, practices, and laws related to policy and compliance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in a business-related field.
  • Certification as a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and oversee the activities of SAF/FMFA ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
  • Represent SAF/FMFA with various installation and functional area organizations.
  • Research project issues, analyze options, and recommend courses of action through reports, papers, briefings, and correspondence.
