About The Position

The Chemotherapy Infusion Center Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the chemotherapy infusion unit. This role ensures high standards of patient care, safety, and compliance, while also managing nursing staff, workflows, scheduling, and collaboration with oncologists and pharmacy teams. The supervisor plays a critical leadership role in maintaining a therapeutic, efficient, and patient-centered environment.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN), licensed in the state of practice.
  • BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) required.
  • ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of oncology nursing experience, including IV/infusion therapy.
  • Prior supervisory or charge nurse experience in an infusion or oncology setting.

Nice To Haves

  • OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) certification.
  • Master's degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration.
  • Experience with EMR systems (e.g., Cerner).

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support infusion nurses and other staff in the delivery of chemotherapy and other infusion therapies.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for staff; oversee orientation, training, and continuing education.
  • Ensure staff adhere to evidence-based oncology nursing practices and institutional protocols.
  • Coordinate staffing schedules and adjust as needed to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Ensure safe and accurate administration of chemotherapy and biologic agents.
  • Oversee patient assessments, monitoring, and response to treatment.
  • Support the coordination of care with oncology providers, pharmacists, and other departments.
  • Address patient or family concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Monitor workflow to optimize patient throughput and minimize wait times.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, Joint Commission, USP <800>, and state/federal regulations.
  • Monitor inventory levels of chemotherapy drugs and infusion supplies in collaboration with pharmacy and materials management.
  • Participate in budget planning, cost control initiatives, and quality improvement projects.
  • Maintain accurate and timely nursing documentation in the EMR.
  • Participate in audits, chart reviews, and incident reporting.
  • Support regulatory readiness and participate in inspections or accreditations.
