About The Position

The Wire Room Supervisor oversees all daily operations in the wire department, ensuring safe, accurate, and efficient processing of wire materials used in electrical distribution. This role directs workflow, leads team communication, maintains inventory accuracy, and ensures customer orders are fulfilled on time and to specification. The supervisor also provides training, enforces safety standards, and ensures compliance with company procedures.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Experience in a warehouse, logistics, or distribution environment.
  • Familiarity with wire, cable, and electrical materials.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and wire‑cutting machinery.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to investigate inventory issues and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Commitment to safety, housekeeping, and compliance standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Electrical distribution industry experience.

  • Experience with warehouse management software.

Responsibilities

  • Direct workflow on the wire production floor each day.
  • Manage KPI or cuts per hour, performance of individuals, department, including Overtime
  • Lead daily shift huddles focusing on prior performance, daily goals, and safety topics.
  • Manage and respond to all Job Ques daily without fail.
  • Ensure all orders are staged, closed, and manifested for delivery each day.
  • Direct material movement from storage to designated sales ticket areas.
  • Manage workflow and remain accessible to staff for questions and directions.
  • Lead by example through consistent and professional actions.
  • Assist in the Investigate and validate cycle count adjustments daily.
  • Ensure all products are clearly labeled with visually and system‑accurate locations.
  • Manage UETs related to wire orders on a weekly basis.
  • Handle freight claims as needed.
  • Track footage on wire reels and update wire tag markers.
  • Monitor wire inventory levels and communicate shortages to the manager.
  • Provide a daily hand‑off email to the department manager.
  • Operate necessary equipment including forklifts and industrial trucks to move materials.
  • Unload incoming vehicles and prepare receiving documents when required.
  • Cut and spool various wire sizes using wire‑cutting machinery as needed.
  • Relocate or rearrange wire based on product speed.
  • Train new and existing associates on safe equipment operation; act as a certified MHE trainer.
  • Ensure daily housekeeping and 6S compliance in all wire/pipe work areas.
  • Ensure proper documentation and placards when handling or moving hazardous materials.
  • Manage the scrap wire process, including approval and scrap incentive program oversight.
  • Participate in product inspection as needed.
  • Assist in large wire projects
  • Provide on‑the‑job training for new employees and those assisting the department.
  • Address performance issues using appropriate coaching techniques and documentation.
  • Support purchasing discussions, including recommending additions or deletions to standard stock.
