About The Position

Responsible for supervising the day-to-day activities of the Surgery Supply Chain Coordinators, Monroe Distribution Technicians, and Monroe warehouse perpetual inventory. Ensure surgery units have the support needed from vendor representatives and goods are purchased, received, and distributed in a timely and efficient manner. Working with customers includes needs assessment, performance monitoring, and adjusting systems to accommodate changing needs.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 years of experience purchasing for operating room inventory or materials management in a hospital
  • Previous lead or supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to compile data, generate and complete reports
  • Strong communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Oversees all aspects of inventory management in a manner consistent with meeting the supply needs of customers.
  • Consults with internal and external customers as appropriate regarding the effective and efficient flow and use of supplies.
  • Works closely with the Purchasing Department concerning all aspects of supply acquisition.
  • Performs daily review of Materials Management Inventory or other area inventories, places daily orders, coordinates with vendor representatives, Purchasing and Receiving staff to ensure timely delivery of supplies to the warehouse and departments.
  • Works with department personnel to ensure adequate supply inventories are maintained and troubleshoots when supply receipt/distribution process breaks down.
  • Ensures the accuracy of the inventory throughout the hospital. Supports cycle counts and performs regular department audits.
  • Implements logistics and inventory activities, such as evaluating carrier and shipping logistics or inventory systems, which will streamline processes and increase the efficiency of supply chain operations.
  • Monitors departmental performance regarding staffing and expenses in relation to set productivity standards and budgets.
  • Coordinates with Accounting to assist with billing discrepancies on invoices, i.e., pricing, additional fees, or items and assists with completing an annual physical inventory.
  • Collaborates with the Value Analysis team on recalls, product reviews and implementation roll outs.
  • Interviews, selects, orients, trains, and annually evaluates all employees based on the job description.
  • Counsels employees regarding job-related performance and implement corrective action when necessary.
  • Establishes and periodically evaluates departmental policies and procedures for the development of new methods to improve departmental effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Acts as a back-up for all supported positions as appropriate.
  • Decision-making regarding appropriateness of supply ordering and distribution decisions and their compliance with District policy and governmental regulations. Failure to comply could result in significant legal ramifications and adverse patient care impact.
