About The Position

This position assists the Program Director of Speech Language in planning, organizing, and managing delivery of speech language support services across public, charter, non-public, approved private, and private educational settings where applicable. This position is designed to assist personnel in meeting the needs of students with speech language disorders. The supervisor collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, including district and school administrators. This position provides supervision and evaluation of speech language personnel, while managing staff in a manner consistent with applicable terms of employment.

Requirements

PA Certification in Speech and Language required.
PA Supervisory Certification in Special Education or Principal’s Certification required.
Master's Degree in Speech Pathology required.
Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) of the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) in the area of Speech Language Pathology required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and work under pressure
Self-motivator, independent, cooperative, flexible, creative, and responsible.
Ability to follow all AIU policies and guidelines, maintaining a professional demeanor consistent with the Pennsylvania Professional Code of Conduct.
Current Act 114, Act 34, Act 151 and NSOR Clearances required prior to an offer (Must be dated within 1 year of hire date).
School Personnel Health Record (Form H511.340) must be completed and received by Human Resources prior to hire date.

Nice To Haves

Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working with students with Speech Language impairments preferred.

Responsibilities

Coaches, supervises, and evaluates assigned staff, using formal and informal approaches defined by the agency’s procedures and evaluation systems, ensuring personnel are provided with performance feedback necessary to provide quality services.
Supports the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of staff, working in partnership with Human Resources and the program’s director, in effort to attract and prepare new staff in understanding their duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Assists with the planning, coordination, and delivery of professional development and in-service sessions, consistent with current research, evidence-based methodologies, and best practices within the field, such that staff have training necessary to meet their performance requirements.
Assists in the development, review, and management of program-level and agency-wide procedures, ensuring that staff have a clear understanding of expectations and processes, so that the operation of the program is efficient and consistent.
Manages both student records and staff caseloads as directed, using program-level data to inform decisions in the context of any local, state, and federal regulations, ensuring that students are properly served and staff are efficiently assigned and supported.
Helps to coordinate the student referral process, monitoring timelines, guiding assessments, and ensuring compliance with state and federal mandates, to facilitate timely and accurate student identification.
Coordinates and assigns substitutes for both temporary and long-term vacancies, monitoring staff schedules and availability of substitutes, in effort to reduce or eliminate interruption to the delivery of student services.
Consults with IEP teams and other student treatment teams to codify evaluation methods, develop student goals, and design instructional strategies in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding students with disabilities.
Helps to establish and sustain partnerships with local, state, and national organizations by engaging in regular communication, participating in joint initiatives, and sharing expertise that strengthen shared services, grows resources, and advances program goals.
Works with educational agencies, including institutes of higher education, by brokering field experiences designed to advance career growth and assisting with the placement of pre-service personnel, in effort to attract staff considering positions within the agency.
Assists with the management of material assets and resources, overseeing inventory, distribution, ordering and maintenance of supplies and equipment, necessary for the efficient delivery of the program’s services.
