Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Current NYS License/Certification as a Speech Language Pathologist
- Strong knowledge of speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive therapies
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care
- Must be ASHA certified.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in long-term care, sub-acute rehab, or outpatient settings preferred
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive evaluations and re-evaluations for speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive-communication needs
- Develop individualized treatment plans with short- and long-term goals
- Provide therapy sessions focused on comprehension, expressive/written language, oral motor function, word retrieval, dysphagia, cognitive function, and home exercise programs
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team, patients, and families to align care goals
- Accurately document care and maintain compliance with state regulations
- Obtain and maintain certifications (e.g., vital stimulation) as needed
- Guide appropriate discharge planning once goals are met or progress plateaus
