About The Position

Provide work direction, and training, for security staff. Collaborate with Security Manager to maintain all officer daily logs, security reports, and investigative documentation. Provide on-site security leadership on the evening shift. Responsibilities This is not an exhaustive statement of duties, responsibilities, or requirements. Employees will be required to perform any job, with related instruction given by their supervisor, subject to reasonable accommodation. Supervise assigned CH Security Department staff. Set staffing schedules, hire, train, coach, counsel, and conduct assigned annual evaluations. Assign shift duties: Update ?Assigned Duties? schedules to security officer posts, as requests are received and changes made. Approve Kronos timekeeping for security employees, including contract employees. (35%) Develop, manage, and ensure effective security systems. Conduct security investigations, follow-ups and apprehensions. Maintain officer daily logs. Partner and collaborate with external law enforcement agencies as needed to address hospital security needs. (30%) Provide human resources with security related investigations informaiton and support. Conduct employee debriefs and investigations as necessary, especially when workplace violence is involved. Investigate drug diversion and alcohol abuse with Employee Relations and Employee Health. Provide Employee Relations support with corrective actions and involuntary terminations. Provide Cal-OSHA violence in the workplace training. (10%) Supervise security department cameras and retention of said cameras, to ensure efficiency, appropriate coverage, and ongoing maintenance. (10%) Participate in and provide reports to hospital committees, including Environment of Care Committee and Emergency Management meetings. Participate in Behaviorally Challenged Person (BCP) task teams when established to address individuals. Collaborates with ED and EDHU departments by attending staff meetings and steering committees. Facilitate Security Department Shared Governance meetings. Provide hospital departments with in-services, as requested. (10%) Develop key trees and manage all aspects of facility keys. (5%)

Requirements

  • Minimum five years experience in law enforcement or healthcare security
  • Ability to identify suspicious circumstances and maintain alert patrol.
  • Ability to use good judgment in observing and reporting unusual conditions.
  • Ability to collaborate and work well with variety of personnel and community members.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, communication, and compassion with regard for human dignity.
  • Uses best judgement in all interactions with customers which includes patients, families, co-wokers, medical staff, community members and all other persons.
  • Knowledge of supervisory skills.
  • Knowledge of security trending.
  • Knowledge of self defense weapons and restraining devices.
  • Knowledge of patrol techniques and investigative methods.
  • Knowledge of criminal laws, arrest, search and seizure procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college coursework
  • Bachelors' or Associates' degree in Criminal Justice
  • Private Proprietary Security Officer license and California drivers license.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of arrest, search, and seizure laws.
  • Must have knowledge of digital radios and security camera systems.
  • 10 years of experience as a law enforcement officer or healthcare security officer/supervisor/manager
