This position is a training role designed for individuals aspiring to become hog buyers. The role begins in the livestock receiving alleys at the plant, where responsibilities include sorting, counting, weighing, tattooing, permanently identifying, and penning livestock according to segregation programs. As training progresses, the individual will work with hog buyers in the field, provide vacation relief for them, and eventually manage the scheduling of livestock deliveries at the plant. Upon successful completion of the program, the candidate will be qualified to apply for hog buying openings. The training curriculum covers Tyson Hog Procurement Programs, Carcass merit, Harvest sheet information, Weight docks, and other buying procedures.
