Job Summary: The Scale House Clerk handles all scale ticket input for manure sales during the fertilizer season, directs truckers to correct field and ensures adequate amount of product is shipped. Hours will include some weekends and be dependent on the weather.

Responsibilities

  • Collects monthly manure samples
  • Ensures a signed contract is in place before product is shipped
  • Inputs scale tickets for manure sales into Agris and ensures ticket entries are accurate
  • Applies scale tickets to the correct field and ensures field is not over shipped
  • Runs Agris reports to ensure all scale tickets are accounted for and applied to the correct contract
  • Maintains an organized filing system in the scale house for tickets, contracts, and other field information
  • Communicate with and direct drivers where to haul material from
  • Provides truckers copies of scale tickets, maps to the field and any needed directions
  • Takes calls from customers, tracks fields that are ready for hauling and communicates with operations for questions
  • Calls local drivers every Thursday or Friday to determine if they’re hauling for the upcoming week. Communicate with the Business Operations Manager if low on trucks
  • Perform housekeeping duties to ensure that the scale house is clean and orderly
  • Communicate with cleanout crews to provide direction on which site and barns they will be working at
  • Obtains and maintains a Commercial Manure License annually
  • Follows all Safety, Biosecurity, Environmental, and Animal Welfare Procedures
  • Ensures compliance with and follows all OSHA and REI safety regulations and procedures
  • Ensures that all care is provided with respect to customer, client and co-workers’ rights
  • Ensures a safe and clean work environment
  • Maintains confidentiality
  • Adheres to work schedules in completing and performing assigned tasks
  • Takes appropriate action to ensure the integrity and sustained certification of the SQF system.
  • Responsible for reporting and taking any necessary action to prevent food safety and food quality problems from occurring.
  • Responsible for following and enforcing procedures outlined in the Food Safety Plan and the Food Quality Plan and any other programs that support the SQF system and other 3rd party audits
  • Performs other tasks as assigned
