About The Position

A significant portion of this role is focused on scheduling and validation, with a strong emphasis on establishing, maintaining, and executing MDI requirements. The position is responsible for ensuring scheduling and validation activities are aligned with site standards, compliance expectations, and continuous improvement practices. Pest control is a critical component of the role. This includes conducting routine inspections, identifying trends and root causes, and partnering closely with our third-party pest management provider to implement effective, sustainable, and compliant solutions. The role serves as the site subject-matter expert for pest prevention and control. Additionally, this position functions as the site trainer for chemical handling and pest management programs.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and experience in all facets of cleaning and sanitation of a food processing facility.
  • Must have a working knowledge of the Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMP) for a food processing facility.
  • Must have basic knowledge of pest control and pesticide application.
  • Must have basic knowledge of microbiology.
  • Must seek to further gain knowledge of the most current sanitation techniques and trends in the sanitation field.
  • Possess basic training abilities to appropriately prepare and present required training to the sanitation workforce
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures all sanitation employees work safely and provides follow-up/input to any sanitation employee recordable accident or near miss.
  • Provides specialized safety training for chemical usage, handling and protective gear use.
  • Assures compliance with the company sanitation SOP’s as well as assuring compliance with the Customer, the State and Federal Laws and Guidelines.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate (chemical) supplier relationships.
  • Evaluate performance of supplier against expectations based on economics applicable to equipment and chemicals.
  • Presents the sanitation program, self audits, chemical use records, check sheets, training documentation, MSDS program and other information as needed to internal and external auditors.
  • Prepare and monitor the indirect labor and supply portions of the Sanitation Department’s yearly budget.
  • Supervise and direct a qualified staff of custodial personnel both in-house and outside contractors as needed.
  • Observe conditions pertaining to the plant environment and evaluate the degree of compliance to specifications for cleanliness.
  • Develop and conduct efficient training techniques for the development of the first line management employees as well as the hourly employees. This includes required yearly chemical safety training.
  • Directly supervises and gives direction to sanitation leads on each shift in conjunction with the shift management requirements.
