About The Position

The role manages day-to-day shift operations to ensure effective delivery of security services across Rochester Regional Health facilities. Responsibilities include staff scheduling, performance management, policy enforcement, and quality assurance of incident documentation. The role coordinates emergency responses, provides leadership during critical events, and communicates with department leadership to support organizational goals. This role also ensures readiness of security equipment and fosters a professional, safety-focused team environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of experience in Law Enforcement, Corrections, Military, or Security
  • Eligible to be designated as a Peace Officer by Rochester Regional Health and eligible to be registered with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) as a Peace Officer
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License
  • Must have a valid NYS Pistol Permit. (Within 18 months of successful completion of the Peace officer Academy)
  • NYS Security Guard Act License (OR) Registered as a Police or Peace Officer in NYS and required to obtain NYS Security Guard Act License within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities

  • Supervision & Scheduling: Oversee daily shift operations, prepare schedules, secure coverage, evaluate officer performance, and administer discipline as needed.
  • Operational Oversight: Review reports, maintain accurate property and time records, conduct roll call briefings, and ensure all directives and policies are followed.
  • Safety & Security: Monitor and ensure the protection of patients, staff, visitors, and hospital property; coordinate responses during emergencies, alarms, and disasters.
  • Law Enforcement Authority: Exercise Peace Officer powers under NYS law, including arrest, detention, protective custody, lawful searches/seizures, and secure transport of individuals.
  • Accountability & Communication: Safeguard departmental equipment, oversee valuables transport, conduct in-service training, and provide daily updates to leadership.
