Requirements

  • Specialized Diploma in radiation therapy program.
  • 4 years of experience as a radiation therapist with strong leadership, problem-solving, organizational, technical, and patient care skills.
  • T - Radiation Therapy - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Upon Hire and BLS - Basic Life Support AHA - American Heart Association Upon Hire

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3 years of experience in a leadership role in radiation oncology.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises staff performance including coaching, counseling, discipline, and performance evaluations of designated staff.
  • Supervises and Administers radiation treatments as prescribed, builds treatment calendars and performs daily treatments.
  • Obtains patient history, answers patient questions, explains procedures and assists with scheduling.
  • Identifies the need for and initiates collaboration with physicians, ancillary personnel, and other interdisciplinary members
  • Provides and assists direct/indirect patient care to complete Ct-Simulation procedures and /or other treatment procedures
  • Participates in the development of departmental procedures.
  • .Reinforces recommendations given to patient by the physician, nurses, dietician, etc., concerning reaction to treatment and care of the radiated area, prevention or treatment of generalized and local side effects.
  • Observes patient for any unusual reactions or events
  • .Monitors radiation equipment inventory and follows all safety regulations regarding radiation exposure
  • Ensures designated area complies with hospital policy and any applicable governmental regulatory bodies.
  • Prepares and/or administers contrast as prescribed under the direction of a Radiation Oncologist.
