Position Responsibilities may include: Manage and coordinate the activities of staff including training, employee development, performance evaluation, hiring decisions and ensure staff is following processes and procedures including safety protocols Collaborate with the Manager for the establishment of goals and performance objectives for assigned department Monitor, review and approve quality audits Oversee incoming inspection activities Manage defect control systems, Corrective Action and Preventive Action processes Process and analyze return material authorizations Compile and analyze inspection and audit metrics, identify trends and report findings to leadership Manage Lab measurements and studies Identify continuous process improvement opportunities and implement solutions Maintain 5S standard – organization, cleaning, structure within the work group Perform additional activities/duties to support ongoing business needs Nature and Scope: Reports to the Quality Manager and ensures work aligns with overall goals and strategies Provides direction and mentors hourly employees further developing their skills and knowledge to achieve desired results and objectives Knowledge and Skills: Solid understanding of manufacturing systems, quality control fundamentals, processes and measurement equipment Knowledge with ISO 9001 or similar mandates Excellent leadership skills, fostering employee development, delegation, performance management skills Familiar with data analysis tools including Excel, pivot tables, databases and statistical analysis software Ability to convert data into information and effectively communicate it Utilize statistical methods to characterize, analyze, and specify parameters of the project Strong problem-solving skills to effectively eliminate root causes, utilizing DMAIC, Design of Experiment, 6 Sigma methods, FMEA, 8 Disciplines, Lean methods, etc. Strong communication skills, clear conveyance & transmission of information through written & verbal form Effective collaboration and interpersonal skills, relationship management and team building skills Ability to apply excellent judgement, decision making skills and strong work ethics and integrity on the job Experience: 5+ years quality control experience in a high volume manufacturing environment OR -- may consider 3 yrs. with a quality certification or a college degree 2+ years of experience in a leadership role Education/Certifications: HS Diploma or GED equivalent Bachelor’s degree (preferred) CQA or CQIA (a plus) People Management: Yes Physical Requirements / Working Environment: Must be able to perform essential responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations.
