About The Position

Under the general supervision of a Division Head, is responsible for: Performs necessary engineering work involved in special assessment projects, special assessment repair program, new development, and private to public road transfers. Develops cost estimates and addresses environmental considerations. Supervises and participates in the preparation, revision and delivery of preliminary and final plans, specifications and engineer’s estimates. Represents the RCOC at meetings, responds to customers, functions as division liaison and coordinates with internal and external stakeholders. Conducts field reviews or investigations. Visits construction sites to review operations and progress. Interprets plans, specifications and design changes. Prepares and implements work processes. Supervises and coaches assigned staff. Performs other work as needed. Fills in for division manager when needed. Must perform duties in a professional and courteous manner to promote a positive image of the Road Commission for Oakland County. Requires a daily schedule that supports RCOC hours of operation. Regular and predictable onsite job attendance is an essential function of this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering is required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively more responsible experience commensurate with the duties described above is required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State of Michigan Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

  • A Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is desired.
