The Supervisor, Professional Practice is responsible for oversight of processes related to credentialing functions. This role provides leadership, training, mentoring, technical expertise to credentialing staff, and provides identification of desired outcomes and develops plans for achieving identified outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree required. In lieu of education, leadership may consider an Associate’s degree and 5 years of applicable experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in credentialing, provider services, administrative support, business or healthcare required.
  • Active National Association Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist certification required within 4 years of hire date.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, implements and performs processes related to the verification and credentialing of medical staff, professional health staff and allied health professionals supporting the Credentials Committees at the hospital, clinic, and Health Services Division level.
  • Plans, assigns, and prioritizes staff workload to ensure timely, accurate and efficient completion of the credentialing function.
  • Monitors the quality and production of staff.
  • Recommends and implements process improvements.
  • Researches industry best practice as well as current regulatory standards and leads implementation related to the credentialing function.
  • Oversight of the provider application and primary source verification processes and flow/communication of information to appropriate individuals, departments and entities.
  • Collaborates to support education, monitoring, and process changes to maintain accurate credentialing databases.
  • Actively engages in planning for system upgrades, downtimes, and related education or process adjustments needed as identified.
  • Models excellent customer service skills and take initiative to meet the needs of all to ensure customer focus and a positive experience.
  • Must be able to work on multiple daily tasks with efficiency and high-quality accuracy while handling multiple internal and external customer communications.
  • Responsible for planning work to meet regulatory and customer defined deadlines, which requires coordination to minimize redundancy of work when multiple organizations share common providers.
  • Accepts increased complexity of work assignments, process improvement projects/initiatives that may be cross-departmental or system-wide with limited guidance.
  • Serves as both the subject matter expert on credentialing and mentor to team members.
  • Orients, trains and mentors credentialing team members for onboarding and performance development purposes.
  • Expected to dedicate additional time towards Sanford patient and culture strategies and initiatives and participate in other development programming along with process improvement, workload management, and training objective development.
